32 cake boxes – how many hours does it take and when does it all happen?
Back in 2021-2022, I used to make monthly pastry boxes as a means of fundraising for various social justice causes. Each month and each box was a love letter to what I was inspired by and what I wanted to eat. With all of my energy and heart, I poured myself into boxes with a dizzying menu of cakes, cookies, donuts, and more in a single box. I am still impressed by the variety I was able to create and offer. Each month was so much work that brought me through a roller coaster of, “ugh there’s too much to do,” “I’m so behind,” “ahhh the dough isn’t rising?!,” “I’m never doing this again,” “I’m running out of time,” to “Wow that was amazing!” and “I love this.” What a whirlwind of emotions!
I haven’t been able to put together those pastry boxes in a long time - due to a lot of different reasons. But, slowly, I’ve been bringing back pastry drops. As of late, they have been cake boxes because that’s what I want to eat myself. So, cake boxes it is.
How many hours did it take total? How did my week look like preparing for Saturday pick ups? What were the steps I took to make this dream come true?
